Accuracy is a continuing responsibility. When an error occurs, we work to correct the public record promptly and clearly.

Reporting an Error

Please submit correction requests through the contact method provided on this website. Identify your message as a correction request.

Include the article title, page link, the specific information you believe is incorrect, and any evidence supporting the proposed correction. Please provide contact information so we can request clarification if necessary.

For errors involving a headline, photograph, caption, video, audio recording, or social media post, identify the relevant material as clearly as possible.

Reviewing Requests

We evaluate correction requests against the published material and available evidence.

The review may include checking source documents, consulting the author, contacting relevant parties, and requesting additional information.

Each request is assessed on its merits. Disagreement with an opinion or dissatisfaction with coverage does not by itself establish a factual error.

Correcting Material Errors

When a material factual error is confirmed, we correct the content and add a note explaining the substance of the correction and when it was made.

Errors in headlines, captions, photographs, and other prominent elements are addressed where they appear.

Minor spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting changes that do not affect meaning may be made without a correction note.

Clarifications

A clarification provides context or resolves wording that could reasonably be misunderstood. Significant clarifications are identified so readers can understand the change.

Updates

An update adds new information or reflects a developing situation. Significant updates are identified when necessary to distinguish new developments from the original reporting.

Retractions

When a central claim cannot be supported or serious problems undermine the reliability of an article, we may retract the material and publish an explanation.

Removal Requests

Requests to remove published content are reviewed individually. Considerations include accuracy, public interest, privacy, safety, and legal obligations.

Submitting a removal request does not guarantee removal. When a correction or clarification adequately addresses the concern, the article may remain available with the appropriate explanation.

Corrections Across Channels

When a material error has appeared in newsletters, social media posts, or other channels we control, we take reasonable steps to address the error in those channels.

Further Review

If you believe a correction request has not been adequately addressed, you may request further editorial review through the website’s contact method. Include the original request and any additional supporting evidence.
